Sandy Lake CrossFit is a community-based physical fitness center conveniently located off Highway 121 and Sandy Lake Rd in Coppell, TX.
Our functional fitness programs are designed to make each and every member regardless of age or skill level the fittest, healthiest, and mightiest version of themselves. Credentialed trainers lead hour-long classes in a positive, challenging environment allowing members to achieve the most out of each and every visit to our gym.
We are the largest and newest CrossFit gym in Coppell offering amenities unmatched by our competitors including full a/c and heat, locker room style bathrooms with multiple showers, and a child-minding play room for parents with small children. We service not only the community of Coppell but our close proximity to 121 allows us to be the most convenient CrossFit gym for our neighboring cities such as Lewisville, Irving, Dallas, and Grapevine. Kurt Hoenig was introduced to CrossFit by a friend in 2010 just before he entered military service as a United States Marine.
On his departure from Active Duty, Coach Kurt attended his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Seminar immediately reigniting his passion for CrossFit and it’s value to helping others achieve their fitness goals. While coaching at multiple affiliates between 2014 and 2018, Coach Kurt participated in his CrossFit Kid’s and CrossFit Endurance seminars, as well as became a USAW Level 1 Trainer.
In July of 2017, Coach Kurt became a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer as a first step toward opening his own affiliate. He's looking forward to bringing his experience and passion to the residents and businesses in Coppell and bordering cities.

Kristin Brimhall joins the Sandy Lake CrossFit team from Colorado, recently moving her with her Husband Jae and 4 kiddos. Kristin loves her family, baking, hiking, the San Fransisco Giants and quoting the Office. She has been Crossfitting since 2015 and is a CF-L1 and CrossFit Kids Trainer. She originally hails from the Bay Area, her sports background in soccer and softball having played D1 softball at Utah State University.
Having 4 young kids of her own is what drives her passion to see the kids of Coppell learn to see that fitness is not just important but also FUN!! Instilling in her athletes the importance of a healthy lifestyle is key and not just for what the body looks like but what it can DO is a deep seeded goal of hers! Seeing each day as a chance to get better and have a good time doing it! Whether it’s seeing someone land that first box jump or climb the rope for the first time, she loves seeing the look of accomplishment and pride in the athletes face and being their to celebrate. She says “ Crossfit changed my life, and I wanna see it help the parents and kids of my community too.”
CF Level 1 Trainer
Adair Hoenig has been training with CrossFit programming since April of 2016. She never imagined that she would be able to do a pull-up let alone a muscle up! CrossFit has given her the confidence to know that she can accomplish anything with dedication, training, and an open-mind.
One of Adair's joys in life is the look on someone else's face when they've accomplished a goal; especially when she's helped them get there.
She and her husband, Kurt, are overjoyed to be able to bring their passion to the people of Coppell and build a community based on fitness, friendship, and family.
CF Level 1 Trainer
Hollee Rogers has been coaching CrossFit for 3 years and training for 4 years. Before receiving her L1, she was actively involved in gymnastics and cheer in the Coppell/Dallas area. Now she is studying to become a Speech Language Pathologist at Abilene Christian University and is an active member of Ko Jo Kai. We are excited to have Hollee as an active member of our coaching staff and community during Summers and holidays off from school.

CF Level 1 Trainer
Lyssa Toming started CrossFit in 2013 when she moved to East Texas. Originally CrossFit was a outlet for her competitive and athletic nature, but she quickly found the CrossFit community was so much more. In 2016 she got her CF-L1 and has coached for the past 3 years before joining the Sandy Lake family.
She grew up training in gymnastics and cheer in the Dallas area and spent a year as a collegiate cheerleader. She spent the last 10 years coaching gymnastics for small kiddos and recently made a career change into corporate world. Faith, family, & fitness are very important to her. If she isn’t at the gym she is probably outdoors being active or soaking up the sun, watching a sporting event, or hanging out with her dog Nala.
CF Level 1 Trainer
Tarah Guenther has been training with CrossFit since October of 2016. Before getting her CrossFit L1 in December of 2019, she coached Bootcamp classes for about 2 years. She also has a background in Powerlifting and dance! During the day, Tarah is a Kindergarten teacher for the Coppell Independent School District. What Tarah loves most about CrossFit is the positive community and encouragement that comes with it. She loves to cheer people on, help them to reach goals, and celebrate along the way!

Coach Scott has been a competitive athlete all his life; finding his true passion for training while playing collegiate football. He has been training athletes of all ages & abilities, from MLB to 'weekend warrior' for over 10 years. As a competitor in Olympic Lifting, he has won the Texas state championship in his weight class from 2016-2019, also qualifying and competing at the USA National Championship. Join us Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm and 10:20am on Saturdays to work on YOUR Olympic Lifting with Coach Scott!
Ms. FIT Trainer
Jamie Wuistinger started CrossFit in 2008. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Courtney, in 2007 and is a mother to 2 amazing children. She graduated from Parker University in 2013 with her Doctorate of Chiropractic. As a Ms. FIT trainer, Jamie has set a goal for the program is to make it the absolute best women's training program there is. She knows that women have different bio-physics and bio-mechanics so there have to be different considerations and our Ms. FIT classes allow for dedicated time and energy into . That includes pre through post natal care. "Women are super heroes when they're pregnant and putting them back together when they're post-partum is so important."
